Michael & David's Wedding - May 2019
Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing my first ever wedding here in Glasgow. I am so incredibly thankful to Colin Horn, who offered me the wonderful opportunity to be second shooter at David and Michael’s wedding.
To start off, I couldn’t have asked for a better location. Fifteen Ninety Nine- a venue set within the beautiful Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow- was splendidly lit, and so tastefully decorated that I must have spent a good hour simply photographing the decorations alone. From themed tables, to donation cards for every guest, to little disposable cameras scattered around the hall, you can see in the pictures below that David and Michael thought of absolutely everything! And the cake! The cake!
As all weddings go, there was the emotional ceremony, the exchanging of rings and vows, the moving speeches, the cake-cutting, and - my favourite - the dance floor at the end of the evening. What made this wedding particularly special to me was that it was the first Humanist wedding I’d ever attended, as well as the first wedding that constituted the tying of the knot, which is an ancient Celtic tradition.
I’ve got to say, seeing how David and Michael looked at each other throughout the day, the way they spoke about each other, and the way their loving friends and family told their story truly moved me. In true Emotional Ellie fashion, it moved me to happy tears a good handful of times! What a beautiful romance they have nurtured.
I wish them both the very best in what I know will be a beautiful marriage. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of such a superbly executed milestone, and to be able to capture all the little moments that happened as it unfurled.
